Eid Al-Adha Fuels Travel Demand as Airfares Surge by 45%

With Eid Al-Adha coinciding with school summer holidays,airlines and travel agencies are recording peak bookings for both short and long-haul journeys. But this year's picture is more complex than simply rising demand, it is an equation of three interlocking variables: appetite for travel that shows no sign of slowing, limited capacity, and prices climbing at a pace the season has not seen in years.

Egypt ( specifically Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada) leads the list of most sought-after destinations from the Gulf this season, driven by its all-inclusive resorts. Alongside it, Salalah in Oman is seeing exceptional demand thanks to its temperate "khareef" season in the heart of summer, a geographicalparadox that draws those seeking cool air in a sea of heat. Beirut is returning with confidence as a premier entertainment destination, signalling that tourism across the region is reviving rapidly. The picture extends beyond the Middle East, with Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan ranking highly thanks to short flight times, ease of entry and moderate summer climates.

Airline ticket prices from Gulf states to Arab destinations have risen by up to 45% compared to recent months, driven by the overlap of Eid seasonal demand and Hajj booking pressure on the same routes. Seat occupancy rates have reached between 70% and 75%, while international flights account for 72% of total Eid season bookings, a clear indicator that travel appetite has not weakened despite rising prices, and that the trueconstraint is supply, not demand.
